Chapter: 307
Narcia's smile stiffened, and she scrambled for a justification.

“There's been a misunderstanding. I only wanted to share it with you. The first round didn't go well for me, and I feel responsible..."

“That's enough, Marcia. As a designer at Gilbert Jewelry, shouldn't you think more carefully before acting?"

Tears formed in Marcia's eyes, and she looked a little aggrieved. "Mr. Gilbert, you've got it all wrong..."

"Take your draft and leave." Denton's sharp dismissal sent her reeling, and he returned his focus to his work.

Marcia sniffed and didn't leave immediately. “Are you disappointed in me? You used to praise my work."

Denton sighed deeply and looked up at Marcia. “I've complimented the work of every designer in the company. If you lack the talent, I can't justify keeping you on. Aren't you being a bit too sensitive?"

Denton wasn't naive. He was aware that Marcia often used work as an excuse to speak with him.

It was clear to him that she had feelings for him.

"If you don't have any actual work to discuss, please don't visit my office. I'm quite busy. You can leave now," Denton continued.

Marcia's face turned pale. She couldn't even force a smile.

Denton had previously treated her with kindness.

It was this wretched competition. If she hadn't entered, perhaps her rapport with Denton wouldn't have soured like this!

Marcia left, holding the draft, filled with irritation.

She returned to her office, head down, and ripped the draft to shreds.

She felt that continuing with this project was pointless if Denton didn't value her efforts.

Her phone rang. Checking it, she saw a message from her assistant.

"Marcia, we've located the reporters, but the footage and photos from the interview have been erased by the organizers."

Marcia dialed back immediately. "What's going on?"

"The interview footage and photos of Kaitlin are gone. It seems the organizers may not release them."

Marcia scoffed, "You're such an idiot. If there was nothing incriminating, why delete them? Some reporters make backups. If we pay enough, they'll sell."

The assistant responded from the other end, "Okay, I'll look into it."

"We need that footage. I want to see what Kaitlin did."

Marcia ended the call with a sinister grin.
