Chapter: 327
"Now you're silent? Weren't you just full of words? Ashley, you are truly cunning!"

The tension in the living room ratcheted up a notch. Ashley, visibly nervous, eyed another glass on the table.

Thinking quickly, she grabbed the wine bottle, poured a fresh glass of wine, and offered it to Miguel with heightened respect.

Miguel glanced at her and accepted the glass.

Ashley was good at reading others' verbal cues and facial expressions.

"Miguel, please, calm down. It's not what you're thinking."

She tried to soothe Miguel first.

Miguel gestured dismissively, cutting off her explanation. "I know what you've been up to. You've been working with Shawn, haven't you?"

Ashley's body trembled, her heart sinking.

“Don't worry. I won't tell Alan. But mow that you're collaborating with Shawn, why did you ask for my help?"

Upon hearing that, Ashley adopted a look of distress, her eyes brimming with tears. "You've got it all wrong. I was really pressured into it. Shawn knew about my past with Alan and wanted me to work for him. You and Shawn might as well be playing the same game."

As Ashley spoke, an idea suddenly sparked within her. She looked up, her eyes gleaming with resolve. “What if you and Shawn teamed up against Alan?"

Miguel scoffed and drank up his wine slowly.

Ashley promptly stepped up and topped off his glass with fresh wine.

“Or you could just sit back, let them fight, and enjoy the benefits."

Miguel responded, "That's an interesting angle. What else do you have in mind?"

Ashley let out a relieved sigh and smiled ingratiatingly. "From what I understand, Shawn has taken an interest in Kaitlin. Maybe let him wear Alan down first? I've been loyal to you for a long time. As for Shawn, I'm just using him."

Miguel's expression softened considerably at Ashley's flattery. "It seems you've thought this through quite well.”

"It's my pleasure. I'm well aware of your capabilities. This is Osewood, after all, controlled by the Hewitt Group. Once you overcome Alan, you'll be poised to take over the Hewitt Group, and Shawn won't stand a chance."

Miguel laughed and nodded in approval.

Ashley was so considerate that he didn't need to waste his time explaining.

“Bring me the file," Miguel commanded.

His assistant then turned and ascended the stairs to retrieve the documents.

Ashley felt a surge of excitement. Her hunch was correct. Miguel had indeed discovered something significant.
