Chapter: 354
Kaitlin pressed the pause button and asked Judy over to come closer.
"Is this the file you handed to her?" Kaitlin asked.
Denton zoomed in on the footage. Thankfully, the studio's high- quality cameras allowed for a clear view even at maximum magnification.
Judy scrutinized the image, and her eyes widened. "That's not it! The file looks similar, but it should have our studio's mark. This one doesn't. It's definitely fake," she exclaimed.
"Is she correct?" Denton turned to Kaitlin.
"She's right." Kaitlin nodded. "The folders were custom-made by the factory to make a lasting impression on clients. It seems your assistant is lying."
Denton's expression turned grim. He immediately picked up the office phone.
“Get Mara here now," he ordered sharply. With that, he slammed the phone back.
Shortly, Mara entered.
"Mr. Gilbert, what can I do for you?" she asked, forcing a smile that seemed tainted by unease.
Denton wasted no time. "Where are the original drafts for Oasis Jewelry? Hand them over immediately!" he demanded, his eyes burning with rage. "And tell me what you did!"
Mara looked flustered and gave a wry smile. "Why would you say that, Mr. Gilbert? I just..." she began, but Denton cut her off.
“The surveillance footage clearly shows you swapped their drafts. There's no denying it. What more do you have to say?" he said sternly.
Mara was shocked. She lowered her head, choosing to remain silent.
Witnessing this, Kaitlyn felt it was inappropriate for her to stay there.
"Denton, I'll take my leave now. We will send the drafts again," she said.
The originals were already in the Oasis Studio, so it wouldn't require much additional time.
Fortunately, Nora had spotted the issue. Otherwise, they would have missed the submission deadline.
Denton nodded. “Okay, I'll assign someone else to manage the partnership with you. If any issues arise later, feel free to contact me directly."
Kaitlin acknowledged, and then they exited the studio.
Denton didn't expect Mara to be so stubborn. In the end, she didn't say who asked her to do that.
Denton fired her without hesitation and delegated the collaboration's handover tasks to his assistant.
"Make sure this doesn't happen again.”
"Understood, Mr. Gilbert."
