Chapter: 36
She had got to know Knowitall by serendipity. He had taken an interest in her designs and seemed to really get her ideas.
They had engaging conversations about design.
And, during a particularly tough time in her disappointing marriage, Knowitall had been a source of solace.
Though they had never met in person, they had quickly become good friends.
He was standing by the window, his back to the door, holding a coffee cup, absorbed in the view outside.
Kaitlin cleared her throat awkwardly, and at that sound, he finally turned around.
“Why the surprised look? Didn't you expect me to come get you?"
No wonder the assistant was so taken aback. Even Phoebe, peeking from behind the door, inhaled sharply.
With such a handsome man smiling at you, it was hard for anyone to resist.
In contrast to her colleagues, Kaitlin found herself easing up at the sight of the man's smile.
"Why didn't you give me a heads-up? How do you find my studio? Nice spot, isn't it?" she inquired, settling into her chair. Having wrapped up her tasks, she was ready for a leisurely conversation.
"It's very much your style," he commented approvingly, taking two steps forward and extending his hand. "Let's make a point to meet again. My name is Quintin Acosta.
“Kaitlin Gilbert. You probably knew that already, right? As your friend, I don't get much privacy," she replied, reaching out to shake his hand.
As their hands met, Phoebe and the assistant nearly let out a yelp.
“What's happening here? They're such a perfect pair!" Phoebe exclaimed.
"Ms. Tucker, I agree. They're an ideal match. They both radiate a wonderful energy. It's quite remarkable!" the assistant added.
The comments caused Kaitlin's cheeks to flush, prompting her to swiftly steer the conversation elsewhere.
"How about we grab dinner? It's about time for our reservation,"
Kaitlin said.
“Sounds good. Which restaurant?" Quintin responded with a smile.
“Some local cuisine. You enjoy that, right?" Kaitlin ventured, noticing Quintin's slight frown and quickly amending her suggestion.
“Or do you love Japanese food? I know a great place."
Noticing Kaitlin's apprehensive expression, Quintin erupted into laughter.
"I'm just joking. It's been ages since I've been back, and I'm really craving some local dishes." He gestured to Kaitlin, chin tilted upward. "Shall we?"
