Chapter: 377
The butler swallowed nervously, unsure of what to say. At that moment, Beth entered the front hall, having heard Miguel's loud voice from a distance.

“Miguel, what happened to you?"

Beth's concern grew as she approached and saw his injuries more clearly. “Miguel! Who did this to you?"

“Who else could it be? Your grandson!"

Miguel let out a derisive snort, then shifted to a more pitiful tone.

"Mom, I think Alan can't tolerate me anymore. Yes, I'm a cripple, but I have hidden in my own villa. Yet he came to me today and attacked me without saying anything. I am his uncle. How could he treat me this way? There are times I think death might be better than living like this."

Beth felt a surge of sadness at his words and immediately instructed the butler to call a doctor.

Though sympathetic, she couldn't help but feel anger swell within her.

"Why would Alan do this? How could he hit you so hard? What could possibly fuel such anger?"

Miguel didn't hide the truth but twisted it to his advantage. "Alan said I did something with the baby's clothes. I never laid a finger on those clothes. I suspect it's just an excuse from Alan. He likely wants me out of Osewood."

Beth was seething with anger, her chest heaving up and down. As the doctor arrived to attend to Miguel, she grabbed her phone and called Alan.

After a few rings, Alan picked up casually. "Grandma, what's going on?"

"You do know I'm your grandmother, right? And doesn't that make Miguel your uncle?"

Beth was outraged and quickly came to Miguel's defense.

"You two are uncle and nephew. What sort of animosity is this? How can you hit him so hard? That's outrageous!"

Alan stayed silent for a considerable time on the other end of the line.

“Why aren't you saying anything? Do you think I'm mistaken? I personally prepared those baby clothes. What does that have to do with Miguel? Since you don't appreciate my kindness, then I won't bother in the future."

Beth's voice was a mix of anger and suspicion, rendering Alan's expression even colder.

"Did Miguel tell you that?"

"You're his nephew. You should have some respect for him."

Alan scoffed and then questioned, "Grandma, have you forgotten what he did before?"

"Enough!" Beth cut Alan off sharply, clearly irritated.

“The past is behind us. Why must you persist like this? I'm old enough. Can't I keep my son at home? You're being disrespectful!"

Beth continued to scold Alan, which only deepened his sense of disappointment.
