Chapter: 378
He chose to remain silent, opting not to defend himself.
What did loyalty mean anyway?
Alan's parents died in a car accident under suspicious circumstances.
Beth was aware of the unresolved issues but chose not to pursue them further.
Why did Beth show such favoritism towards Miguel? Didn't she care about the truth behind the deaths of Alan's parents?
Despite the silence from Alan's end, Beth continued her tirade. "I don't want such incidents to repeat. If word gets out that uncle and nephew are fighting, it would tarnish our family's reputation." "Alan, do you want our family to become a joke in Osewood?"
Alan took a deep breath and ended the call.
Upon realizing Alan had dropped the call, Beth set her phone down with frustration.
Miguel had his wound bandaged.
To an outsider, it might appear Miguel had sustained a serious injury.
“Miguel, how are you feeling now?" Beth asked with concern.
Miguel was aware that Beth had been scolding Alan, but her words did little to soothe his anger.
Still, it was somewhat comforting.
"Mom, thanks for standing up for me."
"Miguel, even though Alan was at fault this time, you're his uncle. Try not to dwell on it too much.”
Miguel nodded, pretending to be generous. "I understand. He probably misunderstood me this time. What I've done before might have driven him to it."
Miguel lowered his head, which made Beth feel sorry for him.
“Miguel, don't say that. Let's put the past behind us.”
Miguel looked up, his eyes brimming with tears. “Mom, I want to move on, I really do. I came back hoping to make things right, but as you can see, Alan doesn't trust me one bit. He finds reasons to beat me up now, and he'll find reasons to push me out of Osewood later. He might even go as far as to have someone kidnap me!"
Beth's face changed and suddenly felt a little scared.
Alan did have the strength to do so in Osewood, but her grandson's nature was not bad, so she had never been worried about his son's situation.
This incident, however, left Beth somewhat shaken, even leading her to doubt Alan might be responsible.
And Alan didn't deny it at all.
“Miguel, that won't happen. Alan isn't that kind of person."
