Chapter: 40
As soon as he heard Lilliana's words, Alan immediately released her and strode anxiously toward Kaitlin.

"Alan!" Lilliana cried out as she grasped Alan's hand tightly, preventing him from moving. Meanwhile, Quintin had already scooped up the unconscious Kaitlin.

Alan knew this wasn't the moment for disputes about right or wrong.

Helplessly, Alan watched another man carry away his ex-wife, leaving him to console Lilliana.

Lilliana was aware that the mere mention of Ashley always stirred Alan's emotions.

"Alan, how could you do this to me? I'll tell Ashley about this in my dreams!" Lilliana threatened.

Alan massaged his temples, overwhelmed. "Lilliana, that's enough," he declared, spending a considerable time soothing her.

In the meantime, Quintin had taken Kaitlin to the hospital. She woke up on the way, her head spinning and a slight nausea unsettling her.

"Do you feel Like you're going to be sick?" Quintin inquired.

Kaitlin nodded weakly, prompting Quintin to pull over.

Stepping out of the car, Kaitlin crouched by the roadside, battling the urge to vomit, a hint of acid burning her throat but ultimately keeping it down.

She massaged her forehead, concerned she might have sustained a concussion.

"How are you feeling? We're almost at the hospital. Let's get you checked out," he said.

Kaitlin nodded in agreement. It felt necessary to ensure nothing was overlooked; ignoring potential health issues was risky.

At the hospital, she underwent a brain CT scan, which thankfully indicated no serious issues.

There was a slight swelling at the back of her head, but the doctor assured her that medication would alleviate it within a few days.

Relieved to hear her brain was unharmed, Kaitlin relaxed visibly.

However, a wave of nausea hit her even harder than before.

She fought hard to suppress the urge to vomit right there at the hospital.

“Doctor, she's still experiencing nausea. What could be causing this Quintin inquired."

The doctor peered over his glasses and asked, “Have you had your period this month?"

Kaitlin paused to consider and realized she hadn't had her period yet.

Noticing her uncertainty, the doctor quickly deduced the potential issue.

"I recommend going to see a gynecologist for further evaluation," he suggested.
