Chapter: 65
Beth gently pulled on Kaitlin's hand, her face softening into a warm smile.

"Kaitlin, did that frighten you? For women like her, who seek to latch onto Alan, this is the right way to respond. You're young and might hesitate, so just let me know, and I'll handle it for you."

Kaitlin nodded, her emotions swirling.

Before this, Beth had certainly been aware of Lilliana's antics.

Alan had been so protective, yet Beth seldom stepped in.

As tensions escalated between them, Beth took bold steps, driven by a desire to lift Kaitlin's spirits.

The sight of Lilliana's evident distress that day provided an unexpected comfort.

The incident dampened their spirits, and soon after, Beth proposed they return home.

"Kaitlin, why not come with me? Alan's unwell, and we're unsure about his condition."

Kaitlin shook her head, her resolve wavering. “Beth, give me a moment to think."

“Of course, but don't linger. Kaitlin, experience has taught me that a man's affection cools unless tended to. You've dedicated three years to this; it's too soon to quit," Beth imparted earnestly before she stepped into her car and drove away.

When she returned to the Hewitt family's old house, Beth's expression was grave.

She had intended to persuade Kaitlin to come home, hoping for a swift resolution between the couple.

However, an unexpected encounter with Lilliana at the mall had thwarted her plans, and she found no opportunity to help her grandson reconcile with Kaitlin.

“Has Alan awakened yet?" she inquired upon entering.

"Mr. Hewitt has recovered and is currently busy in the study," Alina replied.

“Back to work! He can't even look after his own wife, and yet he's buried in business?" Beth muttered bitterly as she marched toward the study with purposeful strides.

Alina quickly followed, concerned that Beth's temper might flare.

“Grandma, you're home," Alan greeted.

"You remember I'm your grandma? And what's going on between you and Lilliana? I was out shopping with Kaitlin today and saw Lilliana flaunting herself at Century Plaza, boasting that you'd cover all her expenses!"

Alan cleared his throat and stepped up quickly to calm Beth.

"Grandma, I admit I've spoiled her before. I'll be more cautious from now on."

“Spoiled? What does she even mean to you? Don't even mention Ashley. I don't want to hear that name!"

Beth fixed her grandson with a stern gaze. "If you want things to work with Kaitlin, you need to cut ties with anyone connected to Ashley!"
