Chapter: 94
"Ms. Gilbert, your attendance is requested," announced Dylan.
Without so much as a glance, Kaitlin handed back the invitation.
"Tell Alan I want nothing to do with the Hewitt family or their affairs. Attending their events is just a waste of my time."
Her blunt refusal left Dylan in an awkward position.
"But, Ms. Gilbert, this banquet honors Mr. Hewitt's uncle, and many prominent figures from Osewood will attend. Mr. Hewitt mentioned jewelers who might wish to partner with your studio. It's a golden opportunity."
Kaitlin paused, her interest piqued. "Jewelers?"
"Correct, jewelers. Ms. Gilbert, Mr. Hewitt also said you could invite your studio partners. There's no restriction on how many can come."
Kaitlin suddenly recalled Phoebe's struggle with sourcing raw materials, and an idea hit her.
No wonder Alan sent her an invitation. He provided a reason she couldn't turn down.
It was a clever move.
"Alright, I understand." She accepted, now thanking Dylan.
Relieved, Dylan sighed, grateful to have averted Alan's displeasure.
Back at the studio, Kaitlin pulled Phoebe aside to discuss the event.
"Join me tonight," she proposed.
"Absolutely, the Hewitt Group's banquets are always lavish. Should we invite Nora too?" Phoebe responded.
With Nora having recently proved her loyalty after the plagiarism scandal, Phoebe saw it as a chance to advance her career.
“Yes, let her know," Kaitlin consented.
Just then, Quintin appeared. “What's this banquet you're discussing?"
“Perfect timing, Quintin. You're coming with us tonight," Phoebe said, gesturing for him to come. Quintin was not only attractive but also highly skilled in design and work.
At such gatherings, he appeared even more relaxed.
Phoebe couldn't shake the feeling that he could be from a rich family, working with them to understand the struggles of ordinary people.
"Hewitt Group?" Quintin's brow furrowed as he turned to Kaitlin. "Are you attending as well?"
Phoebe laughed. "Of course. She was once Alan's wife. Even though they're divorced now, it's not public knowledge yet. How could she miss such an occasion?"
Quintin's response was a subdued "oh," his eyes losing some of their sparkle. “Since you're divorced, why keep it a secret? I thought your marriage was under wraps, wasn't it? Alan Hewitt has always seemed single to everyone else," he addressed Kaitlin.
