Chapter: 95
Phoebe blinked, struck by the revelation. "How do you know all this? Did Kaitlin fill you in?"
Quintin nodded. “We've been friends for years. Is it odd that I know?"
"It's odd, very odd. Something is going on between you two." Phoebe's eyes flicked back and forth between them, her tone playful.
Kaitlin cut in before Phoebe could go further. "Do you have something suitable to wear? Let's take Nora shopping for outfits. I'll pay."
Phoebe teasingly called her a sugar mama, and hugged Kaitlin's leg.
The prospect of free, stylish clothes excited her more than any scandal.
Quintin watched the two women walk away together, then turned his attention to the invitation on the table, lost in thought.
Representing the Oasis Jewelry, Kaitlin and her companions made their appearance at the Hewitt Group's grand banquet. Kaitlin opted for a subtle black dress, blending into the background amidst a sea of glittering gowns.
The evening was dedicated to welcoming Alan's uncle, Miguel, a significant occasion signaling his return and determined claim on the Hewitt Group's legacy in Osewood.
Kaitlin preferred to remain ignorant of the specifics behind Alan's decision to throw this grand banquet, yet she was certain of one thing. The night promised to be far from tranquil.
As her gaze swept across the room, she noted the absence of any Hewitt family members so far.
Phoebe and Quintin mingled with a group of jewelers. Meanwhile, Nora, attending such a grand banquet for the first time, seemed somewhat overwhelmed.
"Ms. Gilbert, what should I do now?" Nora inquired.
With a reassuring smile, Kaitlin replied, "We're not on duty. Call me Kaitlin. Phoebe's got the jewelers covered, just mingle and enjoy yourself."
A twinkle of thrill lit up Nora's eyes. "Kaitlin, this is my first time at such a lavish event. I've only ever seen these big shots on television."
“Relax, you're here as an invited guest, just like everyone else. Plus, there's no shortage of young talent around. Who knows? A charming fellow might strike up a conversation with you," Kaitlin said, playfully.
Known for her striking designs, Nora was popular with the younger crowd, possibly drawing in some admirers at the event.
Flushing with embarrassment, Nora protested, "Kaitlin, don't tease me."
"Just enjoy the party, Nora. Forget about work for tonight and just unwind," Kaitlin encouraged as she gave Nora a gentle push. "You look stunning, by the way.”
After she watched Nora mingle, Kaitlin's attention was caught by a familiar face across the room.
There stood Lilliana, clad in an angelic white dress, her eyes wide and innocent, exuding a purity that could convince onlookers she was the next big sensation in showbiz.
Previously, Lilliana had been the star of such events.
However, now, despite her stunning outfit, she was overlooked, with not a single person pausing to exchange words with her.
Without Alan's support, Lilliana's influence had waned, and the adoration she once commanded had vanished.
