“Aimee Bates, right?"

"Yes." Aimee nodded, uncharacteristically meek.

The doctor pulled up her examination results on the computer and scrutinized them for a moment.

To Aimee, those few seconds stretched into an eternity.

Then the doctor said, “You appear to be pregnant."

Aimee remained silent.

"It's quite early. Your HCG levels are low but rising." The doctor explained, looking up at Aimee. "You should go home, discuss this with your family, and then decide how you want to proceed."

Still, Aimee didn't respond.

"Aimee?"

The doctor called her name again, noticing her prolonged silence.

Snapping back to reality, Aimee apologized, "Yes, I'm sorry... I was just lost in thought. You said I'm pregnant, correct?"

"Yes, according to your blood test. However, the ultrasound didn't show anything, indicating it's very early in the pregnancy. This is an important time. Discuss it with your family."

“Okay, I understand."

As Aimee stood, her leg struck the corner of the table.

She winced in pain.

“Are you alright?" The doctor immediately rose to check on her.

Aimee waved her off, “I'm fine, thank you, doctor."

She then hurried out of the consulting room, pausing at the door, unable to move.

What a twist this was!

They had broken up, and now she discovered she was pregnant. How dramatic!

Aimee had never imagined she'd find herself in this scenario, even though she had considered the possibility on her way to the hospital.

The confirmation still left her reeling.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated in her bag.

Aimee looked down to see a call from Nikolas.
