Chapter: 1045
Siena didn't expect Kai and Gilda to visit her.

In the hospital ward, she had just settled her daughter when she noticed the two at the door.

She didn't need to ask who they were; much of Nikolas's refined features came clearly from his mother.

And Nikolas' height likely came from his father.

“Mr. and Mrs. Bennett."

"Is the baby asleep?"

Siena nodded. "Yes. Would you like to see her? I can bring her over."

“Not right now," Kai interrupted, his expression stern. “We've been informed by Nikolas that this baby is his. Is it real?"

"Yes." Siena replied firmly, without a hint of guilt. "You're welcome to confirm with a paternity test."

“That's precisely why we're here." Kai's demeanor towards Siena was cold; his face remained unsmiling and severe. "If the child is indeed a Bennett, we are prepared to take her into our family, raise her, and compensate you financially."

Siena was visibly shaken, her eyes, already puffy from tears, reddened further. "Even if I have a child from the Bennett family, can't I marry Nikolas?"

“It's not that I oppose your marriage; it's Nikolas who doesn't wish to marry you."

Kai knew he couldn't dictate this matter.

He could lay out the advantages and disadvantages clearly, but he couldn't coerce his son into marriage. Initially, his threats were spoken in anger, but seeing his son's firm resolve, Kai wouldn't force the issue.

What would be the point of marrying if they were to divorce later?

"I knew it..." Siena murmured, lowering her head and wiping her tears with the back of her hand. “Forget it, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett. I didn't tell him about the child for money! She's my own flesh and blood, and I won't let you take her away. I don't want your money either."

"Nikolas mentioned she has a congenital heart defect?"

"Yes,"

"The Bennett family has no history of such conditions."

Siena looked up sharply at Kai and frowned. “Mr. Bennett, I've consented to the paternity test, so there's no need for those remarks, right? We can go as soon as my daughter wakes up. She just fell asleep. Please wait a moment."

"I mean, it's not about doubting the child's lineage, but rather, if there's a history of congenital heart disease in your family, you should have considered the implications of having this child."

Siena was left speechless.

“Although I shouldn't say this, since it involves the Bennett family, I must. Miss Todd, you claim to love my son, but in reality, you secretly gave birth to a child who may carry a hereditary disease. Now, don't pretend you want nothing."

Siena bit her lower lip, remaining silent. Gilda also felt that her husband's comments were too harsh and discreetly tugged at his sleeve.
