Chapter: 1059
He didn't want his daughter to die, even though he had only just learned of her existence.
"Nikolas, I said I will not be a stepmother," Aimee stated firmly.
"My parents won't agree either."
Her resolve was unyielding, leaving Nikolas at a loss for words.
"I admit, at the hospital that day, I wanted to give us a chance to get back together, but I didn't know about your daughter then. These past two days, I've thought a lot, trying to come to terms with this reality. But in the end, I can't convince myself."
Aimee had always taken love seriously.
Even if they hadn't promised forever, at least there shouldn't always be a third party involved.
Siena would always be a thorn in their lives, a shadow that grew as their daughter did.
How could she handle that?
For instance, when the child was seriously ill and needed her father, could Aimee stop him from going?
She couldn't be cruel, but it made her uncomfortable.
Call it selfishness or a lack of kindness; either way, she was unwilling to live like that.
"You can leave now. Just pretend we never met."
Aimee turned to go, but Nikolas suddenly grabbed her sleeve, his eyes red with emotion. “What about our baby?"
Hearing Nikolas' question, Aimee turned around in surprise. "You..."
"I went to Central Hospital and checked your medical records."
Nikolas gritted his teeth, holding back tears in front of Aimee.
"I've wanted a baby with you so much. Are you planning to abort it?"
Aimee remained silent.
“Say something! Are you really going to give it up?"
Aimee dug her nails into her skin. She avoided his gaze, fearing she might soften. "Yes."
"Aimee, you promised me a baby! You said you liked me! Why have you taken back everything overnight because of what happened two years ago?" Standing in front of Aimee, Nikolas looked quiet and lonely, half his body cast in shadow. "I was wrong. I thought the most exciting thing was having fun and that love was something to avoid. But now that I've met you, I want to change."
Their time together hadn't been long, but Nikolas had made it a point to be with Aimee whenever he wasn't working.
He was there while she worked. As soon as she got home, he would grab his car keys and follow her.
