Chapter: 1058
Seeing Aimee's growing frustration, Nikolas quickly said, “Don't get mad. I'll leave! I'll wait outside the building. If you change your mind and want to talk, just call me, okay?"
"You should talk. I'll head home," Bethany said with a smile, glancing at Nikolas. "Once you're done talking, make sure you send her home. It's late. What if something happens..."
“Don't worry! I'll look after her!"
Hearing that, Bethany realized that Nikolas already knew about Aimee's pregnancy, so she nodded and headed upstairs.
With Bethany gone, Aimee's attitude towards Nikolas grew even colder.
“Why are you here again? Nikolas, can't you afford to break up?"
Nikolas' gaze was locked on her face. After a few tense seconds, he finally gave in and said, “I admit it, I can't handle the breakup."
Nikolas had spent countless sleepless nights rehearsing confessions, words that would finally reveal his true feelings.
But in this moment, facing Aimee's icy stare, he found himself stripped to a single desperate plea.
“You can't afford to break up, so what?" Aimee had tried to avoid this confrontation, hoping he would let things end quietly. Yet, here they were, tangled in a web of words neither of them wanted to say.
"As long as you don't break up with me, I will do whatever you say, okay?"
"But I just want to break up with you." Aimee's voice was firm, her back turned to Nikolas.
“Aimee, ever since I've been with you, I haven't gone out to play around, and I haven't been involved with anyone else. I swear I didn't know Siena was pregnant. If I had known, I would never have let that child be born."
Aimee sneered, "What's the point of saying that now? The child has already been born. She is your daughter!"
"I'll give Siena some money and ask her to leave with the child, okay?" Nikolas raised his hand. "I swear to God that I will never see them again! From now on, you are the only one in my heart."
Once, those words might have swayed Aimee. But now, they felt hollow to her.
“It's no use, Nikolas." Aimee frowned, taking a deep breath to steady her emotions before meeting his gaze. “If you do this, I'll end up being the bad guy. It'll be me who separates you from your daughter. Have you ever thought about that? Your daughter will grow up. What happens then? What will she think of me?"
"I'll just make sure she never knows who her father is."
"Don't joke. You can't hide the truth forever." Aimee didn't want to be the villain.
Although she had always had her parents in her life, she knew the struggles being a single mother.
The thought of that sadness turning into resentment scared her.
This was a complicated mess she didn't want to take part in.
“Then tell me what to do. I'll do whatever you say! I can take the child away from Siena and let my parents raise her. That way, she won't hate you. Or... she actually.."
The child had a serious congenital heart disease. But Nikolas couldn't bring himself to voice it out.
