Chapter: 1072
Nikolas held his tongue, a storm of guilt and anger swirling inside him.
Marvin pressed on. “This is your retribution, Nikolas. Aren't you getting engaged soon? I hope one day you have a daughter who faces the same fate-used and discarded, just like you did to Siena!"
As Nikolas's parents pulled him into the car, Marvin's words echoed in his mind, each one a jab at his conscience. Marvin's eyes, blazing with hatred, were burned into his memory.
The closer Nikolas got to Aimee's apartment, the more flustered he felt.
Noticing his uneasy expression, Gilda patted him on the shoulder.
“Nikolas, since you know you were wrong, you just need to correct it moving forward. Let bygones be bygones, and don't get involved with Siena anymore."
Nikolas lowered his eyes, saying nothing. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, each one pulling him in a different direction.
As the car drove into Aimee's neighborhood, Nikolas finally spoke up.
“Dad, Mom, you can head back. I want to talk to Aimee on my own.”
"What? Can you handle it yourself?" Gilda asked, her worry evident.
She knew Nikolas well-quick to speak, but often too impulsive. She feared he might say the wrong thing and cause even more trouble.
"Mom, I'll feel like I'm forcing Aimee to agree if I bring you and Dad with me," Nikolas explained. "She hasn't done anything wrong from the beginning. It's up to her whether she forgives me or not."
"I'm just worried you don't know how to make her happy. Aimee is pregnant. Don't upset her!"
"Let him face the consequences himself," Kai interjected, his voice firm. "After all, it's his fault. He was right to say we shouldn't interfere. If Aimee decides to break up with him, it's her choice. Besides, it's about time Nikolas reflects on what he's done over the years."
Gilda sighed, her main concern still the baby Aimee was carrying.
If they couldn't get back together, would Aimee still keep the baby?
The thought gnawed at Gilda, but seeing how determined Kai and Nikolas were, she held her tongue.
Once his parents' car disappeared down the street, Nikolas walked over to Brody's car, where Jonathan sat in the driver's seat, surrounded by a sea of documents.
Jonathan glanced up, sensing Nikolas’ presence, and lowered the window.
“Have you confirmed it?" Jonathan asked, pausing his work.
"Yeah. She's not my daughter."
"Then why are you still out here? Go upstairs and talk to Aimee."
"Do you have cigarettes?"
"Aimee is pregnant. You shouldn't smoke."
