Chapter: 1073
"Just one," Nikolas pleaded. "I need to calm down. I'm going crazy."
Jonathan sighed and reached for the cigarette box on the passenger seat. But just as he was about to hand one over, he caught sight of a familiar figure in the rearview mirror.
Jayson.
He was back.
Noticing Jonathan's change of expression, Nikolas followed his gaze.
"Wow! Looks like your rival in love is quite attentive. He obviously likes Bethany a little too much."
Jonathan frowned, glaring at Nikolas. “You'd better shut up."
Nikolas took a cigarette from the box and Lit it, puffing away while standing beside the car. “Seriously, have you really moved on from Bethany?"
Jonathan paused, his fingers stilling on his laptop. "Yes."
Nikolas chuckled. "Jonathan, would you honestly be able to take it if she marries Jayson someday?"
Jonathan pursed his lips, and replied, "She won't be with Jayson."
"Then why are you here in person? Is there no one else at Bates Group who could handle things?"
Private detectives were cheap and efficient. So why was Jonathan, the president of Bates Group, spending an entire day at the apartment building, neglecting multi-million dollar projects?
"Nikolas, do you want to die?"
“No, I don't," Nikolas said, finishing his cigarette and throwing it away. He leaned closer, looking serious. “About Siena...I was set up. That child isn't mine; she's Marvin's. He got me drunk on purpose. Fortunately, Marvin likes Siena, so he didn't send her to my bed."
"And?"
Nikolas leaned in closer, his voice low. "Aren't you worried that Jayson might try something like this? You know, get Bethany drunk and use it to his advantage?"
Jayson was as stubborn as a mule.
How many men could be willing to take care of the children of Bethany and another man for so many years for her?
If he knew that Bethany was single again and that Jonathan had moved on, Jayson would definitely be overjoyed.
It was hard to guarantee that he wouldn't take actions. If he and Bethany ended up together, Jonathan would go crazy.
Jonathan's expression hardened. “The relationship between Bethany and me is not something you can just compare with your situation."
"Of course I know," Nikolas said. After all, Jonathan's mother had killed Bethany's mother. "I'm just asking if you can accept it if Bethany ends up with someone else? It could be Jayson or anyone. She can't stay alone forever."
Jonathan looked away, noticing that Jayson's figure had disappeared from the rearview mirror. “I hope she finds someone good."
