Chapter: 1088
A wave of panic hit her as she propped herself up, straining to hear the faint sound of footsteps just outside the room.

Barefoot, she stepped out into the villa's dining area, where Nikolas stood, his face set in a stern line as he gave instructions to a housekeeper, who nodded in response.

Spotting Aimee out of the corner of his eye, Nikolas strode over with deliberate steps.

“Why aren't you wearing shoes?" he asked, his brow deeply furrowed.

Without waiting for a reply, he scooped her up into his arms with practiced ease.

Aimee, her face a mix of stubbornness and confusion, demanded, “Where's my phone? Where am I?"

“In our new home," Nikolas replied with resolve, carrying her back to the bedroom. He gently placed her on the bed. “Just stay here. I'll have the nutritionist bring breakfast. Be good."

“I don't want breakfast! Give me my phone!" Aimee's voice was sharp with frustration.

"Not right now. You need to eat something first," he said calmly, despite her protests, his hand brushing soothingly over her hair.

“Remember, you're pregnant. No need to get upset."

Aimee was convinced Nikolas had lost his mind.

His actions felt completely irrational.

“Are you trying to imprison me?" Aimee's voice trembled, a mix of fear and disbelief in her tone. “Imprison you?

Why would I imprison you?" Nikolas replied with a smile that was both helpless and indulgent. "I just think you're not in the right frame of mind. If I give you your phone, you'll probably call your family to come and get you, right?"

Even with a smile on his face, Nikolas had a presence that was unsettling.

"I don't want to be here. I want to go home!"

"This is your home," Nikolas said, lifting her chin to make her look at him. “Here, with me, with our child, this is home!"

"You are insane. I don't want to talk to you," Aimee said as she tried to shove him away and headed for the door, her bare feet moving quickly across the floor.

But Nikolas' arm shot out, pulling her back to the bed with firm resolve.

“Aimee, I don't want to argue with you," he said.

"Let me go! Nikolas, this is unlawful detention!"

Nikolas' laughter came, louder and more dismissive.

“Yesterday, you accused me of coercion, and today it's unlawful detention. Fine, it doesn't matter. I don't care," he said.

Aimee's anger left her momentarily speechless.
