Chapter: 1093
His prediction was accurate.

Within five minutes, Godfrey's number lit up his phone.

"Weren't you supposed to stay out of this? Why on earth did you get Bethany a lawyer?"

Godfrey was boiling with anger, his voice dripping with blame and criticism.

"Are you trying to block every law firm from handling this case? Jonathan, remember who you are — the son of this family! With all this chaos, instead of helping your mother reconcile with Bethany, you're siding with Bethany's decision to sue her?"

“I've already said it before. The court will determine what happens. I will not interfere unless you do. But remember, you were the first to cross the Line."

Godfrey's voice was low and angry. “So, what should I do? Just stand by and watch your mother potentially face jail, or worse, a death sentence?"

Jonathan said in a hushed tone, "An eye for an eye."

"An eye for an eye, really? You know damn well that Maddie is the chief instigator here. If you're seeking justice, it should be from Maddic she's the one to blame! Your mother was merely blinded by Maddie's lies!" Godfrey realized he had no chance of winning against his son now. So, he tried to soften his approach, saying, “Jonathan, let your mother have a chance to make things right. I assure you, she won't harm Bethany again!"

"Ask Bethany if she's willing to forgive. It was her mother who died."

Jonathan was not in a position to make that decision.

"Jonathan, you're aware of your mother's worsening health!"

"Yes, I know."

"So, you must..."

"I've already told you to leave Bethany alone and keep out of anything involving Maddie. No one listened."

If it weren't for his own mother, anyone else would have been put to rest by now. How much longer could he endure her?

"I had no idea Maddie was that kind of person!"

“That's pointless to mention now. I have broken up with Bethany,” said Jonathan in a hoarse voice.

“Perhaps... if you could just forgive your mom..."

“Do you think I can face Bethany after all this?"

Jonathan's voice grew louder, each word sharp and clear.

Godfrey was stunned into silence.

"Do you realize how much effort I've put into winning her heart? For the last ten years, I've been cautiously approaching, strategizing with all my might, making sure not to cause her the slightest discomfort! I finally got her to agree to marry me. Can you imagine how happy I was? I've devoted years to diligently working for the Bates Group, without taking a single day off. All I wanted was to one day bring her home to a family that would accept her! And what did you do? You destroyed everything!"

Sitting next to Jonathan, Brody felt tears welling up in his eyes for his boss.
