Chapter: 1092
"I'll call the doctor," Nikolas said. He guessed that Aimee was trying to buy time, but he didn't insist on them leaving. She might really not be feeling well.
"I don't need a doctor. I just need a little rest."
Nikolas nodded his understanding, then took her back to the bedroom.
Nikolas might have stayed with Aimee till she fell asleep if it weren't for Jonathan's call.
"Jonathan," Nikolas said as he stood up and went out of the bedroom.
He didn't take the call in Aimee's presence.
"Have you done it?" Jonathan asked.
"Yes."
There was a pause on the other end before Jonathan finally said, “Be careful. Don't do anything too extreme. I'll send some of my men to you."
“There's no need for that. I want them to know."
"Don't be childish, Nikolas."
"I want it that way so no woman will have feelings for me. Should the worst happen, I'll have you at my back," Nikolas said with a chuckle.
Jonathan's voice was deep and resonant. "Just ensure you maintain control."
"Okay. Have you left Odonset?"
“At the airport."
Nikolas made a clicking sound with his tongue. “Alright, man, there's no stopping a lovesick fool, huh! Since you've decided, you're free to do as you please. I'll look after Bethany for you."
"Okay."
After ending the call, Nikolas turned his gaze towards the bedroom door.
Today, he was determined to marry Aimee, even if it meant bringing the entire City Hall to her.
In the VIP lounge of the airport, Jonathan set his phone aside and massaged his forehead.
He had not slept at all last night, just lying awake next to Bethany until the break of day.
At the moment, he was utterly exhausted.
Brody, always observant, promptly offered a pillow. "Mr. Bates, we have an hour before our flight. Maybe you should get some rest?"
“No, someone might call."
