Chapter: 1097
"I have control over everything now," Nikolas said, his lips curling up slightly. “In fact, we can complete the registration without you being there in person! I just. I just think that would be a shame. I want us to go together to the City Hall, get our marriage certificate, and take a picture together."
Aimee was Left speechless.
That was true!
Why hadn't that possibility occurred to her?
Given his influence in Odonset, Nikolas could easily secure a marriage certificate.
Ephraim from West Legal Services had compiled a list of all the necessary documents and handed it to Bethany.
ALL Bethany had to do was gather the items as listed.
Bethany couldn't help but respect the strategic foresight of Ephraim, who managed such a successful law firm in Odonset.
No other law firm dared take on a case against the Bates Group!
Bethany had resolved that if she couldn't find a lawyer, she would go directly to the police and apply for state prosecution.
While Bethany was drafting the presentation of evidence on her laptop, Jayson called.
Seeing his name, she stopped.
"Jayson."
"Are you working now?" Jayson's voice was always so soothing and reassuring.
"Yes, and I've found a lawyer. The senior partner at West Legal Services personally took on my case."
West Legal Services?
"The firm based in Odonset?"
"That's right!"
After a brief pause, Jayson asked, “Aren't they concerned about antagonizing the Bates Group?"
“Ephraim declared he wasn't scared, vowing to seek justice! We've signed the contract of engagement, and should he back out, it would constitute a breach of contract," Bethany said.
A law firm backing out of a deal? That would spell a public relations nightmare.
They wouldn't dare take such a gamble.
“Well, at least there's a lawyer in the mix," Jayson remarked, his brow creasing with worry before he resigned himself to the situation.
"So, what about Aimee? I've tried calling her, but there's no response. Is she still in bed?"
