Chapter: 1098
Bethany paused, clearing her throat before replying, "Actually... she and Nikolas are together again."
“What? What do you mean?" Jayson exclaimed.
“Look, Jayson, I know you're concerned that Nikolas might hurt her once more. Frankly, I wasn't his biggest fan initially, mainly for that reason. But given everything that's unfolded, I believe Nikolas is genuine this time. And Aimee, she really does care for him."
The critical point was Aimee's feelings for him.
Even though she tried to conceal them, Bethany could see it clearly.
Why else would Aimee become so emotional? She'd tear up during TV shows, become misty-eyed at dinner, and occasionally shed tears in the shower. Yes, hormones were a factor, but there was more to it.
She felt trapped and heartbroken, dreading the loss of the child she was carrying.
“Nikolas is a known playboy. I have a friend acquainted with him who claims he's trouble!" Jayson certainly cared about his cousin, prompting him to investigate Nikolas on his own.
The information he unearthed only intensified his wish to see their relationship end permanently.
Yet, despite the dramatic breakup, they had somehow managed to reconcile.
“Aimee is fully aware of his history," Bethany noted with a hint of resignation.
"I'm worried she's been completely enchanted by him! You know how Aimee is. She's a sucker for a handsome face, and damn, Nikolas has that kind of charm."
Admitting this was tough for Jayson.
Whether it was Jonathan or Nikolas, both men possessed an undeniable allure.
“Aimee's not as naive as you think!" Bethany interjected. "Nikolas genuinely made an effort to win her back. She was cautious, keeping him at a distance for a long time. They split over a misunderstanding, and now that they've resolved it, it makes sense for them to make up. Don't worry, Aimee can think for herself."
Choosing not to get into the details of their misunderstanding, Bethany knew that discussing it would only escalate Jayson's worries.
“Just have Aimee call me when you talk to her, okay? I'll speak to her myself," Jayson insisted. His worries lingered in the air.
Bethany let out a soft chuckle. "Will do."
After ending the call, she quickly opened WhatsApp to send Aimee a message about Jayson's request to call him back.
Bethany was anxious she might forget later.
Once she had taken care of that, she shut her laptop and walked over to the window to admire the view.
The neighborhood thrummed with life, filled with residents from nearby apartments. The streets buzzed with clusters of people.
She peered down, searching for a specific person. Realizing he wasn't there, she turned away from the window with reluctance.
Jonathan had really left.
