Chapter: 1102
From within, a woman's voice replied, cautious and curious.
“Who are you?"
Aimee leaned closer to the door, her voice urgent. “Hello, are you a staff member here? I need to use your phone."
There was a brief pause before the woman responded. “Sure, but you'll have to wait until I come out."
"Okay!"
After all, the woman was in the middle of her business, and Aimee couldn't just hurry her along!
Aimee's anxiety mounted as she peered anxiously toward the exit, hoping for a chance to reach Bethany or her parents before it was too late.
At last, the woman emerged from the cubicle.
"You can use it now," she said, handing the phone to Aimee.
“Thanks so much!"
Aimee took the phone with a sense of relief, clutching it as though it were a lifeline. She immediately began to dial Bethany's number.
Bethany was her best hope; she might convince Jonathan to stop Nikolas, which was more important than anything else right now.
Just as Aimee pressed the call button, the phone was yanked from her hand!
Startled, Aimee looked up, her eyes meeting Nikolas’.
"Who are you trying to call?" he asked, his voice cold and demanding.
Aimee stayed quiet, her lips pressed together tightly.
Nikolas twirled the phone in his hand, then glanced at the woman who had lent it to Aimee. “Is this your phone?" he asked, his voice edged with annoyance.
"Yes, it is!" she replied, her voice trembling with fear.
"Take it and leave," Nikolas said firmly.
The woman's eyes widened in panic. Without another word, she dashed out of the ladies' room.
Now, only Aimee and Nikolas were left and the air between them grew thick with tension.
"I just wanted to call Bethany to let her know I'm safe," Aimee said, her voice trembling with worry.
Nikolas' eyes flashed with irritation. "Aimee, do you think I'm a fool?"
Aimee shook her head rapidly, her eyes wide with desperation.
