Chapter: 1105
“You're welcome! We'll do everything we can to assist you."
Ephraim wiped the sweat from his brow as Bethany bowed.
Once Bethany had departed, Ephraim's assistant leaned in and murmured, "Mr. Olson, are you really going to handle this case? This involves the Bates Group..."
Ephraim shot a quick glance at his assistant and replied, "I wouldn't consider it if I hadn't been instructed to."
"So... Who in Odonset is brave enough to back you against the Bates Group?" The assistant's curiosity was piqued. "Can you tell me?"
"You really want to know?"
"Yes!"
Ephraim flicked his assistant's forehead and scoffed, “You're foolish! Knowing that no one in Odonset dares confront the Bates Group, you should've figured out who's supporting me."
The assistant clutched his head, grimacing in discomfort. "Then who could it be? It certainly isn't the Bates Group. They wouldn't back. Miss Holt in a lawsuit against themselves! Or is this some sort of test for their legal team?"
"Looks like being an assistant is your limit. Take it slow. I need to head to the courthouse now." With that, Bethany left, leaving the assistant at a loss for words.
After departing West Legal Services, Bethany made a stop at the supermarket to pick up some vegetables and fruits before heading back to her apartment.
She had been on the lookout for a new place to live, planning to move out of Aimee's apartment once she had all her evidence lined up and the indictment filed.
However, she realized that Aimee hadn't responded to her text yet.
It had been a whole day. Surely, Aimee couldn't still be asleep.
Concerned, Bethany fired up her laptop to send Brody her latest work on the Bates Group case and simultaneously dialed Aimee's number.
There was no response.
Just as Bethany was about to try calling again, a message popped up from Aimee on WhatsApp. But it wasn't Aimee.
"I'm Nikolas. She's in the shower. What's up?"
Bethany frowned, annoyance flickering across her face as she replied, "Why do you always have her phone?"
A moment later, her phone buzzed with a reply from Nikolas - a picture.
Bethany immediately checked the phone. On the screen was a photo of Aimee, freshly out of the shower with droplets cascading down her hair.
"She claimed her hands were too wet to touch her phone! Besides, she's carrying my child. What could I possibly do to her? Why are you so concerned?" Nikolas texted.
Bethany pondered for a moment before conceding.
It seemed likely that Nikolas and Aimee were enjoying some peaceful time together after their argument. It was understandable they hadn't responded right away. After all, it wasn't as though she and Aimee texted daily. They only reached out when necessary.
