Chapter: 1106
“Please, take good care of her. And remind Aimee to call Jayson. He's quite upset and needs some reassurance."

When a new message buzzed in, Bethany knew instantly it was from Aimee.

The greeting was unmistakably Aimee's style.

"Bethany, I've received your message! I'm just giving him some space to cool off. I don't want to escalate his anger. You don't need to worry about me. I'm safe here with Nikolas. He treats me well."

Bethany breathed a sigh of relief and put down her phone.

The news of Nikolas and Aimee's reconciliation was a ray of sunshine in what had been a turbulent month.

She logged into the Bates Group's network backend, her status as a supervisor still prominently displayed.

The Goldwald Company's absorption into the parent company came with strings attached - a six-month no-leave clause in her contract.

But with all the upheavals, her resignation plans had been shoved to the backburner.

Bethany mulled over her next steps, then opened a new document and typed the words "Resignation Letter".

Half a year felt like the right amount of time. She figured she could still lend a hand to Jonathan when necessary. The lawsuit was a labyrinth that wouldn't see daylight soon; expecting a verdict within six months after the first hearing was chasing rainbows. By the time the dust settled, she'd be poised to cut the cord with the Bates Group once and for all.

Bethany spent an hour crafting her resignation letter, which she promptly emailed to HR.

Almost immediately, a notification popped up on her screen. A message from Brody.

"Ms. Holt, are you there?"

“Right here! What's up, Brody?"

"Well, The head of HR just rang me up saying you handed in your resignation letter. Is that true?"

Bethany had anticipated that news of her departure would reach Jonathan eventually, but she hadn't expected it to be so swift.

Nevertheless, it didn't matter.

After all, it was true she was resigning.

“Yes, rest assured. I'm aware of the six-month clause. I won't jump ship immediately. You can assign me tasks as usual until then."

"You're really set on leaving, huh? Could you reconsider it? Mr. Bates is in a meeting right now, oblivious to this. If you retract now, I won't breathe a word to him."

Bethany's lips curved into a bittersweet smile, touched by Brody's concern.

But once the court's decision was handed down, staying at the Bates Group would thrust her into a media frenzy, a storm she had no intention of weathering.

A clean break was non-negotiable.
