Chapter: 1108
The realization hit her like a cold splash of water.
She had never merely listened in on a meeting before; it was always a matter of the leader announcing a meeting, followed by the employees joining as scheduled or upon invitation. This time was different. She had inadvertently broken into a meeting uninvited!
It was a mistake to have joined the meeting.
But now, with Jonathan directly addressing her, her intrusion was exposed. Exiting the meeting now would only draw more attention. The platform would log her departure if she left within five minutes.
Her unauthorized entry was startling enough to everyone present.
Leaving too quickly would only fuel office gossip.
With no other viable option, Bethany resigned herself to stay, slumping back into her chair to observe Jonathan lead the discussion with his team about a new business venture.
Jonathan's knack for business was undeniable.
Despite the high risks and underestimations often associated with their projects, any venture Jonathan embraced turned profitable.
Consequently, numerous companies covertly mimicked the Bates Group's strategies in their own decision-making processes.
Whatever Jonathan chose to invest in, they would hasten to allocate resources to similar initiatives.
"Over the next five years, companies in Gregger will pivot towards new energy sectors for growth, and so will we," Jonathan declared, mapping out the strategy. “We need to be meticulous. It's crucial that we thoroughly vet every aspect, particularly ensuring the financial stability of our partners. We can't afford to be caught off -guard, needing to cover unexpected costs midway through the project."
Jonathan's voice was undeniably pleasing to the ear. It carried a low tone that was anything but boring.
Yet, Bethany preferred his voice in the early morning, rough and youthful, as if he were still a teenager.
An hour later, the meeting finally concluded.
Bethany found herself abruptly ejected from the virtual meeting room by the platform.
As she released a relieved sigh, her phone erupted into life.
The incoming number was all too familiar.
"Hello..."
"Do you need to speak with me?"
"No, I just entered by mistake."
Bethany immediately regreted her words.
The meeting room was secured with a password. How could she have entered it by mistake?
Thankfully, Jonathan didn't press the issue or make any comments.
