Chapter: 1109
From the sound of leather shoes on the floor, Bethany could tell that Jonathan was walking away.
It seemed Like the perfect moment to end the call.
Yet, neither of them made the move to hang up.
Finally, Jonathan broke the silence.
“Do you want to see the kids?"
"Yes!"
“I'll video-call you from the hotel in twenty minutes.”
"Okay!"
After Bethany responded, Jonathan ended the call.
She continued to gaze at the phone screen long after the call had ended, then glanced at the clock.
He had said twenty minutes.
Taking a deep breath, Bethany stood and fetched herself a glass of warm water. As she paced the living room, she checked the clock once more.
Only five minutes had passed.
With a frown, Bethany set her glass down and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. After combing her hair, she looked at the clock again.
Twelve minutes had now ticked by.
She hadn't realized twenty minutes could feel so long!
Just as she was lost in this thought, her phone rang with Jonathan's video call.
Bethany hurried to answer, her screen filling with a close-up of Jonathan's face.
“I've arrived at the hotel. Heading to my room now."
"Okay!"
Bethany assumed Jonathan would end the call soon, yet his image lingered on the screen.
She positioned the phone on a stand, adjusting it for a better view as she watched.
Jonathan, key card in hand, entered the hotel room while Rowan's and Nola's playful noises filled the air.
"Your mom wants to video chat," he announced.
