Chapter: 1114
"Leave it. It's too cold out here."

"Okay..." Aimee replied.

As Bethany prepared to leave her company, she thought it would be wise for the Bates Group not to assign her major projects. She was concerned that if she left before a project was completed, it could negatively impact the work.

So, when she received the project details from Brody, she was shocked.

It was actually a core project, and she was once again assigned to lead it!

This meant...

She would need to continue to work from the office!

Communicating solely through online meetings might not be sufficient for clarity.

Bethany quickly messaged Brody. "Did Jonathan come up with this?"

She saw that Brody continued typing, but he took quite a while to finally send the message.

"This is a normal task for the project team four," Brody replied.

So, it wasn't an order from Jonathan?

"I'm planning to leave the company soon. I'm not sure if I can complete this project in six months. Could I possibly be assigned a different project? Brody, I appreciate your intention to provide me with more experience, but I don't want to hinder the project."

"You are still an employee here at the Bates Group. The leadership must have their reasons for this assignment. Ms. Holt, don't overthink it. Just focus on your responsibilities."

Bethany was at a loss for words.

She frowned, and thought of several excuses, but eventually erased them.

The project was hers to handle, and it seemed Brody was not inclined to reassign it. She decided to drop the matter.

"Understood," Bethany texted back.

Brody didn't engage in further casual conversation but instead sent her the schedule for the project's initial meeting the following day.

Bethany instinctively asked, "Will Jonathan be there?"

“Mr. Bates is overseas attending a technology seminar."

This clarified that as the CEO, Jonathan wouldn't be at such a minor project meeting.

Bethany realized her question might have seemed naive.

"Sorry, I was just curious."
