Chapter: 113
Wasn't it Maddie's birthday today?
Why would he be free to come here?
Bethany tried calling Jonathan repeatedly, but he didn't pick up.
Feeling nervous, she bombarded him with messages.
"Don't come! We'll talk when I get back."
"My mother is really fragile right now. Please, don't come!"
Yet, Jonathan didn't respond. It was as if he had vanished suddenly.
Bethany waited ten minutes at the hospital gate, but there was no sign of Jonathan.
Did he see her messages? Or perhaps he had to return to the office urgently for a meeting or something similar. Otherwise, he should have been at the hospital.
After confirming that Jonathan's car wasn't anywhere nearby, Bethany let out a sigh of relief.
When she got back to the ward, Jayson's parents had already arrived, bearing gifts even more lavish than Jayson's.
Marie scrutinized the Watsons and was satisfied that Jayson hadn't hired actors to deceive her. Her demeanor softened.
"Please, take a seat. I apologize for not being able to stand and greet you. Bethany, why don't you fetch some fruit for our guests?"
“Sure.”
Ultimately, Bethany's efforts bore fruit. Marie consented to proceed with the surgery as planned.
After bidding farewell to Jayson and his parents, Bethany checked the time.
It was nine o'clock at night.
She still had an hour left before Jonathan expected her back in East Shade Bay.
Bethany checked her phone, but there was still no update from Jonathan.
She was puzzled. Even if Jonathan was caught up in an unexpected meeting, it shouldn't have lasted this long.
ALL of a sudden, Bethany's phone rang.
She hoped it was Jonathan, but when she checked, it was Maddie.
“Hello, Miss Hinchcliffe."
Bethany was reluctant to take the call but felt obliged to for work reasons.
