Chapter: 114
“Where are you?"
Bethany glanced at the hospital gate behind her and replied, "I just left my mother and am about to grab some food."
"Jonathan had a car accident. Get to the Civil Hospital immediately. I need to speak with you."
Jonathan had a car accident?
A wave of dread washed over Bethany. She quickly ended the call and hailed a taxi to the Civil Hospital. Right now, the potential awkwardness of encountering Maddie was the last thing on her mind.
She was solely concerned for Jonathan.
Upon reaching the Civil Hospital, Bethany hurried towards the emergency department.
From a distance, she noticed Maddie wearing a hospital gown, standing beside a tall man.
Bethany quickened her steps, eager to speak.
But before she could say anything, Maddie slapped her sharply.
The blow left Bethany momentarily dazed.
“If anything happens to Jonathan, I won't forgive you!" Maddie snapped.
“What are you doing?" Nikolas, taken aback by Maddie's sudden aggression, quickly supported her. “You just had surgery! This isn't worth hurting yourself over. What if you aggravate your wound?"
“Jonathan was in a car accident, and it's all Bethany's fault!"
Maddie yelled.
If Nikolas hadn't intervened, Maddie would have completely lost her composure with Bethany, throwing aside her usual elegance.
"Now Jonathan's in the ER. We'll handle her later!"
Noticing the onlookers, Nikolas eventually managed to pull Maddie away.
When Nikolas returned, he found Bethany still standing where he left her, the imprint of the slap stark against her face.
She looked utterly forlorn.
Yet seeing Bethany only fueled Nikolas’ anger further.
“Why are you still here?" Nikolas snapped.
He had never been fond of her. He believed Jonathan's affection for her was merely a fleeting remembrance of youth, something he would soon tire of. Now, with Jonathan in an accident allegedly because of her, Nikolas' disdain deepened.
"Jonathan.. Was the accident really because of me?"
