Chapter: 1132
But Jonathan didn't answer the call.
Then, a new message popped up on her phone. It was from Jonathan.
“What's wrong?" it read.
Only then did Bethany realize this was the first time she had reached out to Jonathan since their separation.
"I need to ask you something. Can we talk on the phone?" Bethany made an excuse.
However, Jonathan didn't agree. “I'm busy," he responded.
Busy?
But Brody had just informed her that Jonathan was receiving treatment in the hospital, not working at the office.
To avoid bothering Jonathan further, Bethany took a screenshot of their conversation and sent it to Brody.
Shortly after, Brody said, "Mr. Bates lied. He is not busy. We've just left the hospital."
Bethany Logged off the system and tried calling Jonathan once more.
He still didn't pick up the phone.
"I'm busy. If you need to say something, message me."
Bethany frowned and said, “I want to talk on the phone. It's too much trouble to text."
"Then send me voice messages. I'll listen to those."
Jonathan refused to answer the phone.
"Alright, then. You can continue with your work."
Bethany sent a quick text message, then tucked her phone back into her purse.
When she arrived at Bates Group, she took the elevator to the project department.
The doors slid open, and she found herself face-to-face with Kiley.
Bethany maintained her composure, pretending nothing was amiss as she confidently strode toward her office in high heels.
However, as she walked away, Kiley's anger boiled over.
“Stop right there, Bethany Holt!"
She knew Colt was out negotiating with a business partner, and no one in the department would stand up for Bethany.
