Chapter: 1131
Brody's following texts confirmed this.

"I took a photo of Mr. Bates without him knowing."

"Please don't tell him, or he will be upset."

“Mr. Bates has been ill for a few days now. He's really struggling. Could you act like you don't know anything and just offer him some kind words?"

Bethany paused, her fingers hovering over the screen, then replied, "If I start acting overly concerned all of a sudden, he'll suspect something."

Jonathan was too observant not to pick up on the sudden change in her behavior.

"It's fine. Just give Mr. Bates a call. You'll be able to tell he's sick just from his voice!"

“Call him in two hours; he should be awake by then. Mr. Bates just fell asleep after being up for most of the night. He's been incredibly busy!"

Bethany frowned. She could easily picture Jonathan's relentless work ethic, unable to pause once he got going.

"Alright, I understand. Thanks, Brody. I appreciate you looking after him for me."

"You're welcome. It's my responsibility."

After her conversation with Brody, Bethany returned to the photo of Jonathan that Brody had recently sent her. She stared at it for quite some time.

She traced her finger over the screen, Lingering on Jonathan's face, his slightly furrowed brow, and his closed eyes.

Although Brody had captured Jonathan's full figure from a distance, his long eyelashes and distinct facial contours were still prominently visible. His lips appeared a bit pale, lending him a ruggedly attractive look.

Jonathan was an exceptional man.

He was so great that Bethany often felt her years with him were Like a dream.

How could such an outstanding man be deeply in love with her?

She often felt as though she had stolen him away, leaving her constantly uneasy and doubtful.

Bethany's work didn't go smoothly. The staff gave her various excuses and refused to provide more specific information.

After a long wait, she finally saw the materials she wanted, but she was told she could not copy or take them. She could only read them.

Seeing that she was using up the two hours allotted to read the materials, Bethany gave up.

“Alright. I won't make it difficult for you. I'm leaving."

Bag in hand, Bethany left and flagged down a taxi at the roadside.

She hopped in and dialed Jonathan's number.
