Chapter: 1140
Bethany nodded, and they walked into the restaurant together.
Jayson had booked a private room at the restaurant since he had a lot of things to ask Nikolas.
When he walked in, he was startled to find the room completely empty, wondering if he had the wrong place.
"Aimee must have stepped out. "Her coat is still here," Bethany said, pointing to a white coat left on the chair.
"Alright." Jayson pulled out a chair for Bethany, then took a seat beside her.
When Nikolas came back, supporting Aimee, he noticed Bethany and Jayson sitting closely together.
If Nikolas hadn't known about Bethany's history with Jonathan, he might have assumed they were a couple.
"Are you alright? You look a bit pale," Jayson said, quickly standing up to offer Aimee support.
“I'm fine, Jayson," Aimee replied, waving him off as she and Nikolas returned to their seats.
Jayson's gaze shifted between Aimee and Nikolas, his concern evident.
"How have you been looking after Aimee?" he asked, his tone stern.
"Jayson, don't blame him!" Aimee cut in. "It's me. I'm pregnant. I felt nauseous and had to use the bathroom."
"What?" Jayson had just settled into his chair, but the moment he heard Aimee was pregnant, he sprang up as if his seat had caught fire.
“Jayson, my parents are still in the dark about this. Could you please keep it from them for now?" Aimee pleaded, her voice trembling as she huddled closer to Nikolas for solace.
Nikolas, seeing his beloved crumpled under Jayson's stern gaze, bristled with protective anger. “Don't scare her!"
"I haven't even started with you! This is no small matter." Jayson never imagined that his birthday would bring such a bombshell. "Aimee, do you have any idea what you're doing?"
“Jayson, I was about to get engaged to Nikolas, so I thought..."
Aimee's words trailed off as Jayson's expression darkened like a storm cloud.
Bethany, sensing the brewing storm, pulled on Jayson's sleeve. “Let's not escalate this. We need to discuss this calmly."
A heavy silence, as thick as fog, enveloped the room.
Jayson exhaled sharply and sank back into his chair. "Getting pregnant out of wedlock is no small matter. You need to come clean with your parents before making any decisions."
"But I don't know how to break it to them," Aimee admitted, fear evident in her voice.
If Jayson, her cousin, was this shocked and disappointed, how could she muster the courage to face her parents?
“I'll be by your side," Nikolas reassured her, clasping her hand tightly.
