Chapter: 1141
Aimee shook her head.
It wasn't about who accompanied her; it was the dread of confronting her parents.
She could talk the talk, but walking the walk was a different story altogether.
She had hoped Jayson would help ease the blow with her parents, given his reputation for being reliable. But now, that hope seemed to be crumbling to dust.
“Let's eat first. We can discuss this over a meal. I'm starving, Bethany suggested, trying to lighten the atmosphere."
“Oh, yes. Let's eat first," Aimee echoed, casting a grateful glance at Bethany.
But as the food was served, Aimee's stomach churned.
She abruptly stood and dashed out, a hand over her mouth.
Nikolas, his worry etched on his face, quickly followed her, Leaving Jayson and Bethany alone.
Bethany felt awkward and was about to excuse herself when Jayson stopped her.
“Bethany, did you know about Aimee's pregnancy before this?"
"Well... yes, I did," Bethany admitted, lowering her head in guilt.
"You should have told me sooner."
“I'm sorry. I didn't know how to tell you. I thought Aimee would share the news herself, and it didn't feel right for me to intervene.”
Jayson had a right to be involved due to their blood ties and his role in Aimee's life, but Bethany, as an outsider, felt it wasn't her place.
“Forget it. I shouldn't have blamed you. I'm sorry, Bethany. I was just caught off guard."
"It's okay. I understand."
Bethany had been just as stunned when she first heard the news.
Meanwhile, in the restaurant's washroom, Nikolas, unable to enter the ladies' room, had discreetly paid the owner to clear the area and ensure no one else entered.
Inside, Aimee was too weak to vomit. Overwhelmed by emotions, she let a few tears slip.
Nikolas, his heart breaking at the sight, rushed to wipe them away.
“Don't cry. If you're feeling this uncomfortable, maybe we should..."
Aimee cut him off, grasping his hand and looking up with determination. "Nikolas, if we want my parents to accept this baby, the best way is to get Jayson on our side."
Nikolas frowned. "But I don't think Jayson is willing to help."
