Chapter: 1148
Aimee rolled her eyes, turned to face Nikolas.
“and you? If we ever broke up..."
"Stop, stop, stop! We're not breaking up! Don't worry, my family supports us. They're just waiting for someone to rein me in; there won't be any issues."
"Tsk!" Aimee clicked her tongue. "I said ‘what if'!"
"There are no ‘what ifs,‘ unless I'm no longer here."
When Bethany arrived home, she freshened up and settled into bed to watch a video Jonathan had sent her.
Nola was always the one who liked to smile the most. She held a book and pestered her brother.
Rowan was more absorbed in his studies; he seemed to have a knack for math, listening intently and working on problems. Yet, when it was time for subjects like literature or geography, he struggled to keep his eyes open.
After replaying the videos several times, Bethany closed the screen, thought briefly, and then typed a message.
“Are you busy right now?"
The reply came quickly.
Jonathan replied, “No. What's going on?"
“Nothing. I just wanted to check if you're feeling any better."
After sending the message, Bethany hesitated and quickly retracted it.
She thought her sudden concern for Jonathan might seem too forward.
After retracting it, she deleted the inquiry, leaving just "Nothing," and sent it again.
However, staring at the chat box, Bethany worried that just saying "Nothing" could confuse Jonathan.
But... what should she add next?
While she was lost in her thoughts, Jonathan replied, "I've been taking my medicine and getting injections. Other than a little throat discomfort, I feel fine."
Bethany was stunned.
So he had seen her retracted message.
But she had retracted it so quickly. Could it be that Jonathan was watching the chat all along?
Bethany set her phone down and covered her face.
She realized she had to be more thoughtful about her messages to Jonathan in the future.
