Chapter: 1151
She then noticed something different about him today; he was dressed in a shirt and suit.

She asked, “Are you going to the office today?"

"Yes. Jonathan wants me to attend a meeting. He's tied up in Ferindel, so I need to manage things back here." Nikolas held Aimee's hand. "Don't worry. I'll be back before you know it! I'll head back as soon as it's done. Not a minute wasted."

Aimee teased him, "You said that last time, but then you stopped to see your ex-girlfriend."

Nikolas was left speechless.

"So, try not to make promises you can't keep. I hardly believe you anymore."

Nikolas could feel a headache coming on.

He sensed that the issue with Siena would keep resurfacing. Aimee would probably bring up Siena even when they were old.

“How about I take you with me to work? You can hang out in my office. Meetings at Bates Group are recorded. You can watch on my computer to see if I'm actually in a meeting!"

“I'm not working at Bates Group. Why would I go to the company?"

"To keep an eye on your boyfriend! No one would dare say a thing. My position at the company ensures that there would be no gossip. I didn't suggest you come before because I thought you'd be more comfortable at home, especially with the morning sickness. You'd have a chance to rest. It wasn't because I was afraid of you checking up on me!"

Aimee narrowed her eyes and smiled. "I understand. No need to explain"

She was just teasing Nikolas.

"Would you like to come along? Bethany's been working in the project department lately."

Upon hearing that Bethany would be there, Aimee quickly agreed to join Nikolas. "Okay! You work, and I'll go visit Bethany!"

Aimee was getting bored from being at home by herself.

Nikolas had forbidden her from using the laptop, among other things, and it was starting to frustrate her.

When they reached the company, Aimee didn't rush to see Bethany because she figured Bethany was likely in her usual early meeting.

Once he had settled Aimee in, Nikolas headed to his meeting.

As he took his seat, his phone rang; it was Jonathan.

"Stay focused in this meeting. Some of the veteran shareholders are against acquiring the tech company and might voice some harsh criticisms. Don't argue-it won't help."

“Okay, understood!" After a moment, Nikolas asked, “When are you coming back from Ferindel?"

“Not sure yet. What's up?"

“I think you should return sooner."
