Chapter: 1164
While Kiley's apology seemed sincere, the flowers felt excessive.
Planning to reciprocate, Bethany decided to buy Kiley some pastries the following day.
After arranging the flowers, she washed her hands and settled in front of her computer.
She routinely checked the meeting channel.
The meeting in Room One had commenced ten minutes prior.
Jonathan must have been gearing up for it right after their conversation. His schedule was packed.
Bethany sighed, ready to dive into her own tasks, when a private message popped up from Brody.
“Bethany, what kind of flowers do you prefer?"
"Hmm? Why bring this up?"
"Actually, Mr. Bates is planning to send a bouquet to each director as a token of gratitude. However, I suspect he mainly wishes to send you flowers. So, I need to know your favorite flowers."
When choosing flowers, it was important to pick ones that people would genuinely appreciate, right?
Brody confessed he didn't know much about romance and had never really courted anyone. He initially thought of roses, but...
Jonathan needed flowers for all the directors, making roses a poor choice, particularly because some directors were women.
Bethany finally understood why Jonathan had been bringing up flowers so often earlier.
Could he have thought the flowers were from another man?
Brody called out, "Bethany?"
Bethany asked, "When will Jonathan finish his meeting? I need to talk to him."
"Mr. Bates is tied up for at least another hour! He has had a tight schedule since yesterday, trying to squeeze three days' worth of work into two. It's like he's back to his intense work mode from four years ago. Bethany, have you done something to upset him again?"
What? Had she done something recently that could have upset Jonathan?
Bethany responded, “I don't believe so. He might be preoccupied with something else."
“What else could he be busy with? His personal life is pretty uneventful."
Bethany pondered this and realized it was true.
Outside of work, Jonathan mostly focused on exercise or avoided social gatherings when he could. He had no interest in parties, and mobile games weren't his thing either.
Jonathan's criticism about his dull personal life from Brody, who bragged about his workaholic and homebody habits, seemed quite ironic.
