Chapter: 1198
The drive to East Shade Bay was very quiet. Bethany didn't know what discussion to bring up.

Jonathan finally spoke up when they got to the traffic light.

“About the other day... I'm sorry I didn't use any protection."

“Sorry?” Bethany was so carried away it took time to comprehend what he said.

"That night when you were drunk...I came inside you."

It was her fault. She didn't give him the chance to get protection.

Since the guest room had never been occupied by anyone, there was no way it would have been catered for then.

Well, he also had his selfish intentions.

“It was no problem." Bethany blushed. “I won't get pregnant."

The car fell into a heavy silence, and Bethany found the quiet almost unbearable.

Normally, Jonathan would have tried to ease the tension if he noticed her discomfort, but he chose to remain silent this time.

It wasn't until they were nearly in East Shade Bay that Jonathan spoke again.

“Bethany, we need to talk."

He had realized that neither of them had ever truly discussed their future or whatever had happened.

At first, he felt like he wasn't in a place to broach the subject, but that night made him reconsider.

He couldn't ignore the look of dependence and love in her eyes.

Every time he closed his eyes, he was haunted by her trembling voice calling his name, and it troubled him deeply.

In the past, his busy work schedule and illness had left him exhausted, and after tending to the children, he would collapse into bed without a second thought.

But now, back again, he found himself consumed by unfulfilled desires ever since the day he had sex with her.

“What do you want to talk about?" Bethany asked, her gaze fixed on her hands, fingers nervously pinching each other.

“About us."

"Let's talk about it later," Bethany said quickly, her voice firm.

"For now, I don't think there's anything more to discuss."

Jonathan frowned, and pulled over to the side of the road, his grip tight on the steering wheel.
