Chapter: 121
"I can collect them for you."

"No, that's okay," Jonathan responded firmly.

His expression made his thoughts clear.

Jonathan thought perhaps this was a misunderstanding. He hoped Bethany would explain things to him.

“Jonathan, just listen to me this time. Don't go back! Wait and see when she'll reach out to you. You can't keep deceiving yourself."

Jonathan remained silent.

Meanwhile, Jayson treated Bethany and Aimee to a housewarming dinner.

Throughout the meal, Bethany was quiet, occasionally checking her phone.

It was now half-past seven in the evening. She figured Jonathan was probably on his way to his business trip.

Hadn't he noticed that she had left East Shade Bay?

Or perhaps for him, it wasn't important enough to carve time out of his busy schedule to discuss the end of their marriage.

“Bethany, try this! It's really tasty." Aimee chattered excitedly and was clearly the most joyful person at the table.

“Okay." Bethany forced a smile, trying her best to hide her preoccupation from everyone.

Suddenly, Bethany's phone vibrated, signaling a new message.

Bethany quickly checked it, only to find that it was from her mother.

“After my surgery, you two must have a wedding. Getting registered is not enough."

It was not Jonathan.

Bethany inhaled deeply and responded, “Okay.”

Everything would resolve itself after her mother's surgery.

By then, she wouldn't need to keep pretending.

"You seem to have something on your mind. Are you waiting for someone's call?" Aimee asked.

Jayson shot Aimee a glance, signaling her to drop it.

But Aimee ignored the cue, puzzled that her best friend might be keeping secrets. “Is it work-related? Or did your mother cause trouble again?"

Bethany shook her head and smiled. "No. I'm just thinking about what kind of house I should look for."
