Chapter: 130
Bethany clenched her fists, trying to ignore the growing discomfort, but a fine sweat began to break out on her forehead.
Aimee was still out, likely on a date, leaving Bethany alone without anyone to fetch her some stomach medicine.
Slowly, her sweating increased, and the pain in her stomach intensified to the point where it almost deafened her.
Suddenly, Jonathan announced, “We're taking a thirty-minute break."
Relieved, Bethany stood up immediately to search for some stomach medicine, not bothering to turn off her camera.
Just then, Aimee returned, accompanied by Jayson.
Seeing Bethany with the stomach medicine and a glass of water, Jayson approached with a box of desserts. “Haven't eaten yet, hence the stomach pain? Taking medicine on an empty stomach will only make it worse. Have something to eat first, then take your medicine. I'll fetch some warm water."
Aimee quickly added, "Jayson is so thoughtful. Bethany, why don't you head to your bedroom? He'll bring it there shortly.”
Dealing with her discomfort, Bethany didn't protest and went straight to her bedroom.
The meeting screen was now empty, and Jonathan's camera was off.
Bethany took a few bites of the desserts. Shortly after, Jayson knocked on her door, warm water in hand. “Bethany, may I come in?"
"Yes," Bethany answered, lifting her gaze. She accepted the warm water from him and expressed her gratitude. “Thank you for getting me food."
"You're welcome. You should still eat, even if you have to work late. If Aimee hadn't been out shopping, we could have returned earlier. I'll ask her to prepare some snacks at home, so you don't have to worry about meals if you're working late again."
Jayson's voice was consistently gentle and comforting as if kindness was his natural disposition.
After sipping some warm water, eating, and taking her medicine, Bethany's stomach pain began to subside.
Half an hour later, the meeting started back up.
Jonathan's face came back on the screen.
His expression was stern and slightly displeased.
“Let's remember to eat before evening meetings."
Hearing Jonathan's words, Bethany was taken aback.
Was he addressing her?
Noticing that everyone else was responding in the affirmative, Bethany quickly did the same.
The meeting stretched until one in the morning. Given that it was presided over by the president, no one dared to show signs of fatigue.
Eventually, Jonathan's secretary concluded with a summary, announcing, "That concludes our meeting."
