Chapter: 151
Nikolas was right. He couldn't understand his own fixation with Bethany.
He couldn't explain why he allowed her to upset him so much.
They reached the hotel.
Brody and a few assistants were there to welcome Jonathan.
They were surprised to see their boss stepping out from behind the wheel.
“Bethany, weren't you supposed to be driving the car?"
Why was Jonathan driving?
Bethany offered a sheepish smile. "Mr. Bates is probably worried I'd damage his car."
The assistants didn't know what to say.
Then, Jonathan retrieved his luggage from the trunk and approached Brody. “It's Late now. We'll meet tomorrow morning. Go get some rest."
"Yes, Mr. Bates."
Brody nodded and signaled to Bethany that she was free to go.
Just then, Jonathan unexpectedly passed his luggage to Bethany.
“Bethany, come with me and carry my luggage upstairs."
Bethany hadn't seen that coming. “Okay.”
She braced herself to follow Jonathan, imagining the surprised expression on Brody's face at this turn of events.
Why hadn't Jonathan spoken up during the drive? Why did he invite her to his room in front of everyone? Luckily, Brody wasn't one to gossip. Otherwise, there might be whispers about them at the office tomorrow.
Bethany entered his room, carrying his luggage. Before she could utter a word, Jonathan handed her an ointment.
“Apply this to my wound after I shower."
With that, Jonathan grabbed his night robe and disappeared into the bathroom.
As the shower started, Bethany stood there, puzzled.
What was happening now? This was nothing like what she had anticipated.
Jonathan hadn't brought up ending their marriage, nor had he rebuked her for taking Jayson to the hospital without his knowledge.
Yet, she had clearly felt his irritation at the airport.
