Chapter: 156
Didn't Maddie realize that Jonathan wasn't truly committed to her?
“While you're tied up here, he's enjoying himself in Canbidge with his wife," Nikolas muttered to himself, but Maddie overheard it.
"What did you say?" She frowned.
"Nothing."
“Jonathan took Bethany with him to Canbidge on a business trip?"
Maddie was out of the loop about the specific plans since the deal wasn't finalized and the legal team hadn't been briefed yet.
But she knew that Jonathan's first task after returning was to go to Canbidge for an essential tech development project.
And he had brought Bethany along-wasn't that clear favoritism?
Bethany shouldn't have been involved in such a pivotal project, not even if she had another decade of experience.
“Yes, and they're calling it a business trip. It wouldn't shock me if Bethany ends up taking credit in the project."
Nikolas also sensed the partiality in his friend's decisions.
Jonathan had wanted Bethany to advance independently, providing her opportunities. Now, if Bethany was capable enough, Jonathan might even consider letting her lead a team.
Maddie's expression turned grim.
Previously, she had dismissed these minor issues, convinced that Bethany had no future at Bates Group due to her limited skills.
However, with the rate at which Jonathan was promoting her, Bethany would climb the ranks sooner rather than later.
This was completely unacceptable.
“Jonathan's blatant favoritism doesn't bother the shareholders?"
Nikolas gave a nonchalant shrug and said, “What can they really say? He's the CEO. He can choose any assistant he Likes without needing approval from anyone else."
Maddie was left without words.
"And honestly, Bethany has been quite impressive. I've reviewed some of her work, and there's really nothing to fault."
"Is that so?" Maddie's smile suddenly appeared, her red lips curling up, but her eyes remained icy. "She had better not slip up."
Nikolas caught her look and felt an odd shiver.
Due to the demanding nature of this business trip, Brody had delegated less critical documents to Bethany for verification.
First, Bethany consistently produced top-notch work. Second, Brody aimed to integrate her into the project, giving a solid reason for her name to appear in the report.
