Chapter: 157
When Bethany was handed the thick stack of folders, she had a gut feeling she'd need an eye clinic visit once she got home.
"Check carefully! Make sure there are no mistakes! I'll review it if I have time after I finish my work, but if I don't, I'll submit it without double checking so make sure everything is pristine!"
“Got it," Bethany replied, taking a deep breath.
She put on her glasses and began meticulously checking the market research, starting from the first page.
She kept her head down for hours, not taking a break.
She went on and on until Jonathan, Brody, and a few others finished their meeting and entered her room.
Bethany felt a pang of unease as unfamiliar colleagues suddenly filled her space. She was worried someone might notice she hadn't slept there the previous night.
But Jonathan seemed unfazed. He walked straight to her and looked at the pile of documents.
"Don't get too stressed out." There were so many documents related to this project; she'd be exhausted if she had to check them on her own.
“Okay." Bethany nodded, trying to keep her distance from him.
Everyone was silent, preoccupied with their own tasks when Jonathan suddenly asked, "Have you had breakfast?"
There was a brief moment of silence.
Even Brody looked over. The others also turned their heads to see what was happening.
"You can't get anything done if you're having stomachaches," Jonathan said, as if it was second nature for him to care about Bethany and others were being too sensitive.
“I'll pay attention to it and won't delay the progress," Bethany responded.
"Okay." Jonathan gave a small nod, then directed his finger to a specific part of the document Bethany was reviewing. “Here, the investment in research and development of Creation Group is very vague. Most of these reports have problems."
Bethany followed his direction, nodding as she made a mark with her pencil.
Brody, who had been standing behind them, cleared his throat and said, "Mr. Bates, I'll take the team to my room for a debrief. If you need anything, just call."
"Sure," Jonathan replied.
With a nod, Brody hurried off with the group.
As the door clicked shut, Bethany let out a sigh of relief.
Jonathan glanced at her, a smile playing at his lips. "Why are you so nervous?"
Bethany smiled wryly. “Usually, Brody thinks you're never close to any women, but now you're always around me. I'm afraid they might overthink things."
"There's nothing to overthink," Jonathan said casually.
