Chapter: 168
This was an outright declaration of war by Maddie. Since her business trip to Brokdon, Maddie had been laying her traps. She knew it was futile to probe further.

She had never faced such a predicament. One wrong move could devastate her future prospects.

She could as well forget to be credited on the scientific project.

Bates Group would surely dismiss her to preserve their own reputation, and with such a black mark, other firms would likely shun her as well.

Her phone rang. It was Aimee.

“Bethany, what's the situation with Zucron Company's project? Carson was so livid he shattered his office window! You're handling that, right? Could this mess land you in trouble?"

Bethany's hands trembled, her voice barely a whisper. "I've been framed."

“By whom?"

“Maddie. She requested the core technical drawings and then used software to erase our message history. I can't find any records of our conversation now."

Aimee's voice rose sharply. "Maddie? Do you have any issues with her? Could there be a mistake? Everyone knows she is devoted to Bates Group. She wouldn't risk their reputation without cause!"

Even Aimee doubted Maddie could be capable of such actions.

Bethany's head pounded. She ended the call abruptly, sparing Aimee the details.

She stared at her phone, feeling utterly isolated.

She knew she couldn't rely on Jonathan.

Moreover, considering the implications for Bates Group and the fact that Maddie was involved, Bethany was certain of whose side they would choose.

If she were to tell Jonathan that Maddie had sabotaged her by leaking sensitive designs, he would dismiss it outright.

What about Brody?

She couldn't just sit back and await her downfall.

Resolved, Bethany dialed Brody's number. Learning he was in a meeting with Jonathan at a branch office, she grabbed a taxi and headed there.

During this period, Carson kept calling her, but Bethany didn't answer.

Her priority was to seek Brody's advice.

It was a sad reflection on her situation.

Brody, whom she hardly knew and with whom she had no close ties, was her only hope.

She arrived at the branch office where the meeting was being held.
