Standing outside the bar, he lit a cigarette, taking a slow drag as he let the cool night air clear his mind. Just then, his phone buzzed. Jonathan's name flashed on the screen.

“Where are you?"

Something was unsettling in Jonathan's tone, something that immediately put Nikolas on edge.

Nikolas assumed the tension in Jonathan's voice was about something on his end, not his own situation. "I'm catching up with some friends. Did your plans change again?"

“Friends? You mean women?" Jonathan didn't waste any time. “Aimee called you earlier, and a woman answered your phone. You'd better come up with a good explanation for that. I'm going to East Shade Bay to pick up Bethany and see if we can straighten this out."
