Chapter: 182
“Maybe you could try meeting Maddie? We could secretly record the conversation and catch her confessing!"

Bethany pulled out a chair and sat down, massaging her temples.

“That's too simplistic. She must have anticipated that and prepared for it."

“Then perhaps approach Mr. Bates. The discussion you had with Carson earlier gave me some ideas. Maddie might just be jealous of you. If you can convince Mr. Bates, he might intervene on your behalf."

Bethany shook her head. "Do you really think he'd assist me?"

Aimee replied, "I believe Mr. Bates is a fair man. Even if Maddie is his fiancee, he wouldn't allow an injustice like this."

“I'm heading to Apricot Microsystems. Since they're adamant that I'm responsible, I want to know who contacted me and what incentives they offered."

"Okay! I'll come with you!"

"No, you need to go to work today. I can handle this on my own.”

Bethany appreciated Aimee's concern, but the damage was done. Even after resolving the issue, Aimee still had responsibilities at Ensson Corporation. Becoming too involved could jeopardize her reputation.

Aimee bit her Lip, her worry evident. “But I won't feel at ease if you go alone."

“They won't dare touch me in broad daylight."

With these words, Bethany reassured Aimee before heading downstairs.

Upon reaching the ground floor, she was surprised to see Jayson, who had dropped them off earlier, still waiting.

Jayson quickly stepped out of the car when he saw Bethany. "Where are you off to? Let me give you a ride."

"Mr. Watson, today isn't a weekend. You have classes."

"I've taken a leave of absence. It's fine."

Bethany frowned and took a step back. "No, thank you. I appreciate your help with the messages-it was crucial. But that's enough. You should get back to your own affairs."

“But you're on your own. I'm not sure how many people are behind this for Maddie. Can you handle it alone?"

Bethany found herself without a response.

"I really just want to help. It pains me to see someone who works so diligently be sacrificed and risk their future! Bethany, if your partner were here to accompany you, I'd leave right away. But he's likely too busy, so he isn't here. Consider me family, or even just your driver for now. Let's gather the evidence to clear your name. Later, you can thank me again if you wish."

Bethany recognized that Jayson was only trying to help.

Yet, she knew she couldn't reciprocate his efforts equally.

As she hesitated, Jayson instinctively reached for her wrist.
