Chapter: 188
Jonathan's expression grew more serious. “Aimee's apartment complex is too ordinary, with poor security. If someone tries to kidnap you, you'd be helpless."
“How do you know where Aimee Lives?" Bethany's eyes widened in shock.
He had even investigated this!
"I also know that since you moved in, Jayson has been visiting Aimee's place frequently," Jonathan said meaningfully.
During the meal, Bethany felt the urge to ask Jonathan what he meant, but she restrained herself.
Now, she needed to focus on gathering evidence rather than getting sidetracked by distractions.
After their conversation, Jonathan took a call and had to leave.
However, he still made sure to drop Bethany off at Aimee's, reminding her that she needed to move back to East Shade Bay by the next day at the latest.
Back in her room, Bethany's thoughts were chaotic, and she couldn't make sense of anything.
Then her phone rang.
It was from Marie. "Are you back from your business trip?" she asked.
"Yes, but I've been swamped at work. I haven't had a moment to come see you."
Marie responded with a smile, “Just focus on your job. If you're too busy, don't worry about visiting me. I'm doing just fine!"
Bethany chose not to share her current troubles with her mother.
There was no point in causing Marie any stress. “I'll come by once things settle down at work."
"Then bring Jayson along. I have something to discuss with him. You're so busy; he ought to understand."
Bethany hesitated and remained silent.
She had intended to open up to Marie about everything after the surgery. But now, she felt too drained to tackle the issue with her mother. Her priority was to find evidence quickly.
"He's quite tied up as well. Please, don't bother him."
"You shouldn't think like that. You need to let him show his commitment. It's only through his actions that you'll really see whether he cares for you, time and again."
Marie's words left Bethany sighing. “I understand."
"Why do I sense you're very worn out today? Bethany, what's going on?"
Marie finally picked up on something amiss.
Bethany intended to reassure her mother that she was fine but suddenly changed her approach. “Mom... Have you ever seen that woman?"
