Chapter: 198
She decided to clean and tidy up the whole house since she wasn't particularly busy.

She looked so tired and sweaty after cleaning the whole house.

Out of the blue, she heard the sound of the door opening from outside.

She assumed it was Jonathan, so she walked towards the door with the basin of water she used to clean the floor. But to her greatest surprise, it turned out to be an elegant lady.

"And you are...?" Francine was just as surprised as Bethany was.

Besides, every member of the Bates family knew that Jonathan's house was not open to strangers.

Bethany was at a loss for words. She didn't know what to say.

Luckily for her, Francine asked first, “Are you perhaps a servant hired by my son?"

Due to the fact that she held in her hands a basin with a duster cloth, it wasn't difficult to assume she was a maid.

Immediately she heard this, Bethany nodded in agreement. "Yes, I'm here to clean up Mr. Bates’ house."

She already knew who Francine was just by hearing her speak.

As a matter of fact, Jonathan and his mother seemed very much Like.

They both had an elegant look, with thick eyebrows and deep-set eyes.

And his mother looked young, despite the fact that she was in her fifties.

"My son is quite particular about his space. He used to dislike others entering his home, but it seems he has changed a lot over the years."

After changing her shoes, Francine walked in and surveyed the surroundings.

This made Bethany extremely nervous, especially since some of her clothes were in Jonathan's bedroom.

Fortunately, Francine respected her son's need for privacy and settled herself on the living room sofa without venturing further.

Bethany poured Francine a glass of water, her movements smooth and practiced from her days as an assistant at the company.

"Thank you." Francine smiled. "Please, go about your business; don't mind me. I'll just wait here for my son."

“Okay.”

As Bethany was about to leave, Francine called out, “How long have you been working here?"

Bethany paused before answering, "Not long, about two months."

“Has my son ever brought a girl here?" After saying that, her smile widened. "I live abroad most of the year and I'm trying to get more involved in my son's life. Don't worry; I won't mention this to him."
