Chapter: 197
“Bethany, I actually considered you as a sharp-witted person in middle school."
Bethany didn't know what he meant.
Jonathan lifted his hands and gently rubbed her hair. "I have a meeting to attend. When we get home, we can discuss more about it."
He left immediately he finished his words.
Bethany responded immediately, "Hey! Well... How is Maddie doing now?"
She was the one who pushed Maddie down, and the blood was definitely real. In actual sense, she still felt a little bit anxious about it.
"Not to worry, she's doing okay."
"Alright, then."
Staring at his receding figure, Bethany couldn't help but look back on what he was trying to express.
He had said that they were a couple and that he and Maddie were merely employer and employee. It seemed as though he was displaying his disposition towards Maddie.
But the password to his lock was still BH@825. Also, his tattoo was still there. It wasn't possible that Jonathan woke up all of a sudden and decided to not have affections for Maddie anymore, was it?
Would he erase his tattoo?
When Bethany thought of the possibility of this happening, her heart skipped a beat.
She couldn't place a finger on why exactly.
As soon as Bethany got off work, she saw Jonathan's assistant waiting for her.
She got into the car when she was sure that no one was looking at her.
“I can get back on my own."
“Mr. Bates has instructed me to get you from work." This assistant was the only one aware of their relationship among Jonathan's subordinates, and he wouldn't tell others.
“Alright, then. I'll let him know that you don't need to get me tomorrow."
Bethany didn't want other people to know that she had an intimate relationship with Jonathan.
A lot of rumors were already circulating, and once Jonathan was involved, it would honestly be a spectacular scene.
The car soon arrived at East Shade Bay, and the assistant watched her as she went in. Then he drove off.
Bethany felt nostalgic as she came back to this place again. The last time she was there, she actually thought it was over between her and Jonathan.
Perhaps it was due to his recent travels, and also the fact there was no maid, Bethany saw an accumulation of dust on the floor.
