"Bethany, are you finished with work yet?"

"Yes," Bethany said with a sheepish nod. She had caught the playful edge in his voice and couldn't help but laugh. "I completely forgot!"

He'd reminded her about the appointment just last night, but as soon as she stepped into the office that morning, a small project issue had swallowed her focus, and the nine o'clock checkup vanished from her mind.

"I rescheduled it for ten-thirty. If we leave now, we'll still make F5"

Jonathan's only frustration was that she didn't seem to take the checkups seriously; but he couldn't stay truly upset with her.
