Chapter: 217
She had been so sure Jonathan loved Maddie. That certainty had made her uneasy about letting him handle this situation. She had worried about the company's pressure on him as president and his feelings for Maddie.
Now, it was different. Bethany chose to trust him this time.
It wasn't for any specific reason, just the way Jonathan Looked at her. His look was so gentle, so dependable.
They made her believe that, after all these years, it was finally time to let someone in instead of always facing the world alone.
Bethany, freshly washed, reclined and glanced at her phone.
Jonathan hadn't sent a single message.
He must have been occupied.
With the ongoing unresolved situation in Canbidge and the relentless daily demands of managing Bates Group, being the CEO proved to be no easy task. Since he had pledged to thoroughly investigate the issue, she knew she needed to grant him some time.
In empathizing with him, she understood that Jonathan, in his role as CEO, faced immense pressure to ensure fairness in his dealings with her and Maddie.
While Bethany was lost in contemplation, Aimee suddenly knocked on her door.
Startled, she jumped slightly.
"Are you still awake?" Aimee asked.
"Yes." Bethany rose from the bed, smoothing down her nightgown before opening the door. "What's going on?"
“Visit the company's website! The chairman of Bates Group has addressed the issue regarding you and Maddie."
The chairman?
Jonathan's father?
Bethany rushed to her computer and pulled up the company's website.
Instantly, a striking announcement caught her eye.
"Bates Group recently faced a major breach where core technical drawings were leaked, resulting in serious damage to the company's reputation. The board of directors has treated this issue with utmost seriousness. After conducting an investigation, we have identified Bethany Holt as the responsible employee. Consequently, we have opted to terminate her employment and may pursue legal recourse."
"What does that mean? Weren't the top managers supposed to investigate this thoroughly?" Aimee was so infuriated that her eyes widened.
Unlike her, Bethany remained silent, her gaze fixed on the screen.
Jonathan had promised he would uncover the truth and vindicate her.
“Bethany, don't scare me. Say something!" Concerned that Bethany was overwhelmed with anger, Aimee grabbed her hands, only then noticing they were trembling.
Bethany was usually so composed. This was the first time Aimee had seen her this disturbed.
